Movie Review World

When in 2008 Taken became an overnight hit, it shocked both the filmmakers and its stars. Liam Neeson himself said he expected the film to go straight to DVD. How wrong he was. Instead the film went on to make $227 million worldwide and turned Neeson in an action star.

Taken above all else was a fun OTT action film that had real flare, tension and engaging characters. Sadly in all areas Taken excelled in, Taken 2 fails unforgivably. Its botched half hearted action sequences have more fragmented quick edit cuts than is to be believed, which at times is too much on the eyes. The film brings nothing new to the table and with no real effort to make any of the characters interesting or engaging and as a result its whimsical storyline soon becomes a bore.

Summary: Poorly written and directed, this less than half hearted sequel lacks in all areas we loved so much in its predecessor.

  2. Deschain says:

Also thought the film was a bit of a stinker. Probably what Taken should have been had it not had a few insightful touches.
