Oscar winning director Ang Lee returns to the hot seat for his first picture since the ground breaking  Life of Pi. This time Ang will craft his expertise to bring a 3D boxing movie to life. Not an obvious choice I hear you gasp. While this may be true, one must remember Ang Lee has always been an extremely versatile director, never scared of dipping his toes into any genre, after all his back catalogue boasts everything from Brokeback Mountain and Hulk all the way to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

The project is described as “an epic look at the boxing world of the 1960s and 1970s, as seen through the prism of its biggest rivalries and greatest fights”.

The movie will “have a narrative that connects the 3D depiction of some of boxing’s great fights” such as the Ali/Frazer ‘Thrilla in Manila’. It’s also expected to “take the exploration of 3D technology and cutting-edge visual effects further.” than ever before, and as for script duties, Peter Morgan (Rush, Frost/Nixon) has been brought on board to bring the story to life.
