Ben Affleck is the New Batman
It’s Official – Ben Affleck is the New Batman
After weeks of speculation and the heated possibility that Christian Bale would return as the Dark Knight (with a cool $50 Million to tempt him) Warner Bros and Zac Snyder have officially announced who their new batman will be for the still untitled Batman Vs Superman Man of Steel Sequel.
So unless you have been hiding out in a cave for the past 24 hrs you will no doubt already know that Oscar Winner Ben Affleck is the new Batman. Upon making the announcement Snyder went on to say;
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”
This of course is not Affleck’s first venture into the realm of comic book movies. In 2003 he starred in Daredevil which was a critical and box office flop. Since then he has established himself as a very accomplished director for films such as Gone Baby Gone and of course winning the Best Picture Oscar for Argo in 2013. Since then and more recently he was rumoured to be one of the few in a short list to direct the Justice League movie.
Zack Snyder will once again be returning to direct the follow-up to his first Superman flick, starring Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, which has made more than $649 million worldwide.
Production is scheduled to kick off next year shooting from a new script by Dark Knight scribe David Goyer with a release date of July 17, 2015.
Along with Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne are also expected to return for the sequel as Lois Lane, Martha Kent and Perry White
