“True Detective” Director Cary Fukunaga has found his Clown, but who is “It.” ?

A few months back, Movie Review World reported that True Detective”director Cary Fukunaga had adapted Stephen Kings mammoth novel into a two part screenplay“. Now, together with New Line and Warner Bros, Fukunaga’s plans to direct the first part (for now) which is scheduled to begin shooting this summer.

While New Line had been considering older actors like Mark Rylance and Ben Mendelsohn to play the pivotal role of Pennywise,  it has recently come to light that none other than young Will Poulter (“We’re the Millers”) is the one in final negotiations to play the killer clown, who was last brought to horrifying realisation by Tim Curry in HBO’s 1991 TV adaptation.

Reports suggest, Fukunaga that he was utterly blown away by Poulter’s audition for the part and felt he was the right choice for the role.

The original story follows a group of kids from Derry who come together over summer break to take on the monster that is murdering children in their town whilst battling their own personal monsters along the way.

While the role is certainly a dark one, sources suggest Poulter is more than capable of taking it there, especially after a screening of early footage from his forthcoming film “The Revenant“, starring  Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy and directed by Birdman’s very own, Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu was shown at last months CinemaCon. Set in 1820, the film centres on a gang of robbers who leave a man left for dead after he is mauled by a grizzly bear deep in the wilderness.
